One of My Knives Was On American Guns!

Hey one of my knives was on the T.V. show American Guns. Does anyone watch that show. Rich Wyatt used my knife to sweeten the pot in a trade for some machine guns. That was kinda exciting! Him & the guy he was dealin with were talkin #'s and he says" how about I through in a one of a kind item". Then he pulls out one of my knives and says something to the effect of " here is a one of a kind Shane Atwood Knife in a crocodile sheath, with a damascus blade, and ivory handles." Then he stabs it into the table and the guy goes for the deal. It was kinda cool to see one of my works on T.V.
The knife is made from Chad Nichols Haz Mat carbon damascus with elephant ivory handle. I lined the the ivory with some black G-10 and then used some barrel and screws to screw it to the knife. I also made the Crocdile sheath and braided the kangaroo lace lanyard. The beads are sterling silver. Thanks for lookin and let me know what ya think.

Nice knife. The Truth About Guns blog has had several posts about American Guns. Most of the guys writing comments don't like the show or the integrity of the family's business practices. They do seem to like watching the daughter Paige.

I was under the impression that products made from ivory was illegal. Maybe not with custom products.

There is a ban on ivory trade, and custom products are not an exception. But, mammoth ivory is perfectly legal for trade, as mammoths have been extinct for millenia.

Though, if I recall, eBay banned sales of mammoth ivory. Nonsense.

I believe if it is pre ban ivory as in old like old school scrimshaw you are OK.how they determine I have no idea though.

It is preban elephant ivory meaning the ivory is older than the ban which I believe is 1971 so it is ok to use. I usually use mammoth ivory.

Pre ban ivory is fine to sell. There are rules, regs and permits required for ivory and whale teeth.
I've not seen the episode yet but it is on my dvr...hopefully tonight.

I like the show generally but not some of the idiots working in the "shop". Not sure I'd want them working on my gun or a gun I may purchase. I'm sure most of it is just for the show otherwise it would be boring...not to me...I love to see true craftsmen/women at work.

Paige is indeed a beautiful young women...my daughter is the same/ish age so I leave it at that or need to stick needles in my eyes and purge my lecherous thoughts. Wife is not bad looking either.

I prefer this show to show RedJacket show.
