One Of The Most Exciting Busse EDC Blades EVER!!!!!!!. . . The Nuclear Meltdown SAR 3

Why?

Variety, small differences and incremental improvements. Otherwise Jerry would have stopped making knives 10 years ago. :) This knife is not the same as the AD, just similar.

Judging by the pic posted and the stated 3.5" blade, the handle of the SAR3 should be 4.25" with an OAL of 7.75". I really like the design and specs on this one.

I want mine in satin/blackpaper.... then a double cut ;-)

The rounding and the finish of the LE with that black paper may just be what I have been looking for all these years (famous last words I know). The game warden came close in the thinner versions but the thumb grooves on top and this overall design is near perfect if I were to put my wishes on paper. Musta read my pea brain.

I agree. I think the similar SARs (not the 5) are some of the cleanest, classiest designs. Smooth, rounded edges... flowing lines... functional thumb grooves. Just great looking in any length.

Looks good, might get one of those if it comes out in the right combo.........

You guessed it. Satin / Tiger Hide numbered :D

If the spine was square for firesteel scraping, it'd be perfect. I wonder if they'll do a one-off...

Why would scraping with the blade be a bad thing? How many times do you start a fire with a steel? It shouldn't be your primary fire source.

Scrape with the jimping thingimabobs. They certainly are sharp enough.
If they are sharp, then this might work.

It really messes up the edge. If this is a SAR blade, I'm assuming it's wilderness oriented, and firesteels are my primary source when I'm backpacking. They often work for me where other methods fail. A nice square spine also helps in making kindling, I often use it for scraping to save the edge.

This is a good looking knife, but like my SAR 5, I'd probably take a section of the spine to a belt grinder and square it off.

has there been any hint as to a price-point? this is definitely an attractive knife for many purposes

Hmm, good point. I always consider fire steel as an emergency item. I supposed it would be a better light weight fire starter to depend on over matches or lighter when every ounce in your 40lb pack counts.

Nice, i've been looking forward to this! Comparison pics would be awesome. I'd be even happier with .125" though!
