One of the most under appreciated/overlooked: Buck Vantage Pro

The Vantage is a good looking knife IMO.

I'm an Ol' Timer and have a 346. For $40 bucks, the thing is freakin awesome, or for your generation, its the shizzle :)

You tell that young whippersnapper!!!

Very nice! I'm really tempted to get the Avid next, but at the same time I kind of want a Select as a beater.

Get the Pro as a beater. 'Beating' on better steels like S30V will make you appreciate it more. :)

I was guilty of writing Buck off. I never even considered looking at Buck as an option. My sister and brother in-law got me a Vantage pro for Christmas the year before last. I have to say that I was wrong. It's a great little flipper. Not just good for the money, It's just plain GOOD! It takes a great edge, holds it, and flipped well right out of the box.

I took it apart, polished the tang, washers and liners. I greased it with a moly metal to metal grease and now it flips butter smooth. It's no ZT560, but it's no where near the price either. I recommend the vantage pro to anyone looking for a good cheap knife!

This and the Spyderco Native 4 FRN are probably the two cheapest entries into the S30V steel. Of the two, I prefer the look of the Buck, although I'm sure the Spyderco is a very good knife and probably didn't have QC problems.

I've had my avid for a while now. Although mine does exhibit a slightly off center blade, it is a terrific knife. No complaints as I paid less than $40 for it.

I really like that knife and always wanted one. The problem was the QC issues I kept reading about, the locking liner going 100% within a couple days, broken/stripped screws, and wacky blade centering. I might try my luck one of these days.

I had one about a year and a half ago. I had every problem described by RevDevil. I loved the look of it but I couldn't get the blade to center to save my life, the pivot was gritty, locked at 100%, and the flipper didn't really do much. I think maybe I got a lemon but I've heard a lot of other similar complaints. I still like Buck. I feel like it just needs a bit more attention from QC. I hope they get it all sorted out.

Dont think its ever been overlooked many ppl know of this knife and their issues and consider them as a budget knife nothing more

Lol. And my Avid came with no sagger jeans or backtalk, dagnabit. It was flawless out of the box.
