One Reason I Reeeeaally Like Serrations

Great post Mist,
You know what..I have really been changing in the way I look at my collection. I still think for carving wood, Scandi X 1/8" is the way to go...but as far as going into the woods and bumming around..I find that I need my Chopper more than my whittler. And you know what could fit on a chopper, serrations..and not mess with performance at all.
That way you have them...if you need them.
BUT

Wait for it.....

Why not a Saw Back knife? To thick maybe?

I like serrations so every knife I find that has them in a different location I tried to get a hold of one to check out. I thought I would like them better out towards the very tip so I tried the new Vic Soldier...then I realized how much I use the tip when whittling and carving so now I learned I like them just fine near the handle (but can cope with them pretty well where ever).

I don't know about too thick. I have a TOPS Steel Eagle 111A that I have apparently lost the folder on that I have been working on a review of for months...guess I'll be starting over...but the saw it it works pretty well and it is 1/4" also.

I have some of my own thoughts on this subject...I just don't think I want to air them just yet. I do like your line of thinking though

For me it usually goes better and quicker using good serrations to saw out the notch rather than hack, whittle, or batonning it when using the thicker blades that I prefer.
.

Or you could just use a nice thin scandi knife that will push cut a notch in seconds, but hey thats just my highly efficient self

:p:p

The thought of being alone in the bush with only a mora makes me shudder!!
