Offering up one set only of large, matched, vintage rag micarta scales. 5" x 1.9" x 0.250" Big enough to make a large full tang or frame handle knife of any reasonable style.

This is the lighter yellow/brown stuff that finishes the easiest and is the most uniform. Rectangular material due to the nature of the base stock is the rarest and most valuable. This is a set I cut for myself. This is the only set I'm offering, if you want it, buy it, there likely won't be more. My supply of this material is all spoken for or exhausted.

Below is a knife picture that I made with this same material, hand rubbed to 1500 grit, not buffed or otherwise processed.

It certainly is a beautiful looking material and that knife sure shows it off. Could be the "look" of that folder helps the look of the material.

Thanks Frank! I'm a huge fan of your work, so that means a lot to me. Do you come to Blade?

Check out Tim Curry's frame-locks on Instagram, he's using a lot of this material lately, and really doing it justice.

Thanks for that compliment. Due to health problems I haven't done any distance travelling for the last 10 years or so. My association in forums is a great interest creator for me. I do know what I'm missing but have learned I can't handle the other thing. I'm a member of the Western Canadian Knife Association and have been attending a local show once a year. There are a couple of local makers that I spend time with now and then. These visits are great entertainment even though they are most often one on one. Still, I sure wish I could do a bit of the show thing. It can be a great place to learn and certainly enjoy !

Personally I don't have any need(i.e. fiscal advantage) to go to the shows, but I kind of romanticize the idea of them, as a hold over from a previous time and culture. I wish I had been around in the 70's, 80's, 90's, back before the internet and camera phones, where people would spend all year working on new things to wow their peers with, and blowing each others minds when they saw what at best could have been described over the phone previously.

It's nice to see so many friends at the same time also. Sorry to hear that your health keeps you from that. I wish I was closer, I'd like to see your work in person and swap secrets. If I ever make it up that way, I'll be sure to let you know.

I sent you a PM btw, I'd like to send you something.
