Just got back to this thread. Epilog: Dad was in the bush with me at every step (though I did not know that till years later). The lesson was indeed profound. Had my pappy done less, the lesson might not have affected me nearly as much. Thanks for the support.

Might have... Or maybe Grandpappy. I know of four generations of trapper/hunter and we suspect a fifth, though records are sketchy. I know they were mostly solitary men, good on their handshake and died debt free.
