One thing I noticed about a combo starmate. Please respond?

First: thanx for all the supportiv posts about the Starmate I will get one.
When I was in the store today to get mine, I noticed a slight difference between the plain and the serrated modell.
The tang area of the serrated blade had a little grove or indent to accomodate the stopping pin between the two scales. The plain one didn´t have the aforementioned grove. Any Ideas?

The cut out in the choil is to fit the stop pin. The lase cutting vary's a little so we do this to make all the blades the same.
