And a couple years later… did you ever find your perfect camp knife?
Are you familiar with TheKnifeConnection and their architect series? That’s been my all around do everything camp knife lately.
I’ve also been admiring the jg5 but can’t find it anywhere.

I've never found a single tool solution.

Closest I could get was a variable grinded 8" lauri bladed leuku which weighed approx. 12 ounces.

If you're OK going bigger a Skrama, Brisa Bigmuk or My Parang 10" parang. All will suffiently perform finer work and chop very well and baton if you don't have an axe.

An ax and a SAK would cover pretty well all your needs. That said, I would go for Benchmade’s Puukko 200.

Take your pick (of the ones on the left) Terava Skrama 200/240 ftw

You can clickety click on someone's name and see how long ago they were online. Helps with the necroposting.

My do everything camp knife is a Carothers Basic Field Knife. It's like holding slicey love in your hand

Hey all!

So I've been on the hunt for a a great camp knife, I do a ton of overlanding/camping, been looking for a good camp knife for cooking or even breaking down small diameter wood. I had my heart set on the Nordsmith Canteen knife, but I'm pretty sure they're no longer making them. Was wondering if anyone else had a similar style nessmuk knife? TIA!

Overlanding a form of car camping, right?. . .So weight is not an issue. I am guessing that going the cheapest way is not required either. Also con=sider that just one knife might not be the answer for both food prep and heavier csmp chores. I'd want to keep kitchen gear separate from other tools anyway.

Take a look at a Chris Reeve "Pacific.".
Another premium knife for heavier chores might be a Randall Made Diver's knife (#16) with saw teeth or their "Sasquatch" . get the smaller model.
