One's Wheelhouse, and a shout out.

Kenneth is not a seasoned hog like some of us, so he does not understand the power of Res C. :(

probably because they don't have flashy magnum scales and curvy grips.

Gotta love you guys! You really, truly believed I would rise to such a blatant baiting?:) Well played though, friends!

The SAR's just do not do it for me. I see the genius of the line, but one design does not fit all users, right? I definitely prefer a straighter handle on a heavier camp knife/survival blade.

Admittedly you are correct in pointing out that they may not be quite as sexy as some of the models I prefer. I have openly admitted as much above. A knife is first and foremost a tool, But if it can be sexy in addition to being a real performer, well, all the better I say! I find this to be true in most things :p.

But yeah, good call there. The Basic 7 was the Res-handled knife that most got me thinking prior to the Alpha Dog 6. You guys are uncanny!

(But it is irrefutable that they all just look alike!)

Most Knifemun, myself initially, might think ResC is a spongy, lightweight, non-durable material. How many RC’s do I currently own? Somewhere between 5 and 628.

Although my Bussekin friend has pointed out the smashing ability of a metal butt over the RC. He’s leery of the durability of RC. We have done deep-woods, primitive camping together, and sometimes stuff needs to be smashed. Ice, rotted wood, packed soil, misbehaving camp-mates.

And sometimes less damaging to use a handle end rather than the blade. Next Gen Res C with a metal butt plate perhaps?

This, tuica and other gentlemen. This.

It is very hard to let go of a prejudice against non-full tanged knives and especially such with guards and handles not soldered off (or other method, PRN) after, uhh?, about 46 years and thousands of hours of knife use. I know it may be irrational. Technology changes. I get it. Know how long it took me to accept that the 9mm was adequate for "social purposes?" Potentially the 5.56/.223? Yeah, just about 40 years - or more - is all :)! So give me some time here!

That said, if anyone is willing to send me their B7 or AD6 for a cruise through my next wet, muddy, sandy, quick sand (yup - the real stuff), algae and other slime filled slot canyon drop, please do let me know! I am more than willing to give it a go! :D I am good for it. After all, I use my real name (quite on purpose for just this reason. A point of principal, though I judge not. I completely understand the reasons not to. But I do believe that an open and notorious, named society is a polite society - much the same as an armed one (thank you for the latter, Robert Heinlein)). You can find me!

No one should ever have to utter:
“I should have had a B8.”

Thank you, Thank you. And yes - I have one. And a 311; 511; Basic 7; Battle Rat; and a Dogfather. That’s the extent of my RC line up. I think.

Hi Ken! It was great to meet you, and chat about knives and the AZ backcountry... I do hope our paths cross again!

That HR looks happy and right at home... enjoy!

Classic that Will posted immediately, espousing the merits of Resiprene... it was his fervor for the Basic 8 that triggered my purchase of a LE! That 1st (delicious) taste led to a landslide of others... from a 1311 to my new favorite game blade, the Scrapmax 375. While lacking the benefit of a full metal tang and butt, they are a lightweight yet incredibly durable handle option. And yes, that AD6 we played with is probably the perfect fit for your preferences, and so light that you could bring it as a 2nd blade and scarcely notice the load! It still needs a polished convex edge, but once that's done, perhaps we can meet again at see how it hold up to some hard use!

Cheers to all, Mark.

You are Gracious, not "Mad," Markie. Thank you for the meet up and talk just as importantly as for the great blade - oh, and the chance to hold and fondle my first Res-handle! Trifecta! Hat trick! Yeah, I dearly am lovin' on this HR1, and I am pretty certain it now has a forever home, but I will admit that the AD6 has not left my mind much, either! Oh, do please convex and polish away there and it is a date! I am down in your neck of the woods frequently (in-laws and best buddy & fam down there in T-town!).
