Onion Speedsafe question

First Ken, kudos to my friend, again, again and again!!!! you know good design my friend!!!!

Second, Jeff, good to see you, or I should say , hear from you my friend!! the Lord bless you!!!!

Third, hard use knife? I have used my avalanches hard, never a problem, never a failure!!!! They have been hiking, camping, whittling (yes whitting!), etc. etc. etc...............etc. Ive never had a problem with any of them!!!

I have one avalanche that was one of the first produced, still going hard!!! And it has been used alot!!!!! It is in my own opinion the best all around one-handed knife ever produced!!!

I have been carrying one of the speed-safe models since their intro and have never had even a glitch and as a mechanic I constantly used my knives. The speed safe by design is designed to hold the blade closed till the blade is physically moved to the over the camlobe effect and the torsion bar assists in continuing the directional impetus. I have 6 speed safe models and not one has had a speed-safe related problem.

Speed safe isn't perfect . Nor are any folders .I guess if there are enough of them out there sooner or later someone somewhere is going to find something they would change or concern themselves with . As far as accidental openings they all have the potential for that . I guess if your afraid of a little poke or cut you shouldn't carry a knife . I kinda dig a little cut once in a while .Makes me respect what I'm doing a little more . Bottom line if you play with knives long enough sooner or later they are gonna bite ya so when it's your turn don't be so suprised just deal with it and go on maybe your knife was just feeling a little disrespected :)or unapreciated . ;0

Good thread , I am always interested in what you guys think and any suggestions you might have .

Thanks for the support and the criticisms I appreciate them all .

Ken,
Thanks once again for the post. Always appreciate it. Even if you are dis'en me :D
Speaking of being "bit" by your own knife accidently, I was breaking in the action on an EKI Commander a couple of days ago, and while throwing the liner lock repeatadly, I didn't get my thumb out of the way in time, and turned my thumb into a flip-top thumb. Oops. I don't mind the "little" cuts here and there, especially if its due to my inattention. Then, I deserved it. What I don't like is being cut because of a faulty knife design.
Anyway, after carrying the Random Leek for the weekend, I can say that it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I discovered that I could deploy it quite handily, even while wearing old, greasy Mechanix gloves.
Do I take back all my concerns? No. Its still not safe to carry tip up, but tip down, in the right rear pocket is quite functional.
So, Kudos, Ken on a very useful and "safe" speed-safe. And no, I don't use the safety. I'll probably tighten the screw in the open position so I never have to deal with it.

....not afraid of a lil' cut or poke....afraid of losing my knife out a newly made hole in my slacks....:D

I should clarify that I don't use a clip to carry. Sounds like those who did have never had this problem. That seems to be the source of the problem.

Maybe kershaw can add an "idiot-proof" line to the box that says "if you carry this in your front pocket with your keys and it opens on you and cuts your leg, it's not our fault"...:D :p

(Nice juxtaposition :p )

What evidence do you have, please, of the knife NOT being safe carried tip up?
