I'd like to purchase a new knife, however I am only looking to pay for one using cryptocurrency (Ether).

Does anyone know of any online shop(s) that ship to Lebanon and accept crypto as a method of payment?

I know that Crypto Currency is a real thing . . . .But until someone can explain it to me in a paragraph I am staying out.

Cash (in some form or another) is king in my book. I am growing wary of the internet economy and e-trade in general. These days, whenever we purchase goods or services with an electronic transfer of funds, we leave a record in the web. The sad truth is that big Tech and big govt want to KNOW what we are up to, as a population and individually. I do have a web presence. I do buy online. I do use a credit card when out shopping. But I am getting wary of the creeping trend to a cashless economy where everything is a matter of record somewhere out there.

And today we all carry around a tracking device. OK, so thats not money., but it is a related aspect of my concern. In the same vein is the ubiquity of public surveillance cameras. I guess what bothers me is the growing loss of anonymity.

, I just don't want to think I am on the "Turman Show" every day.

I have to go now, I have an appointment to get my tin-foil hat re-fitted.

Try getting your purchase shipped to someone somewhere else someone that will ship to Lebanon (Egypt, UAE etc?)

Crypto . . . .I just don't know.

Links? Also, how do you get your funds transferred?
This is not the forum to be giving crypto lessons. But you should be able to register for any of the various exchanges and link your crypto wallet to it. Or send the crypto to your account at one of the exchanges, such as coinbase, and then liquidate it.

Can't cash-out? So it's not actually real money? "Money" tome means something is exchangeable for something else of value. If Cripto was real money you could go to a bank and get it changed into local currency. What about precious metals? Can cripto be changed into gold or silver?

This. I have some crypto, through coin base, and can buy more of cash out at any time.

You can't go to a bank and change out gold and silver either.

You are right there. Banks do not deal directly with Gold and Silver in the USA.

But I can get cash for it elsewhere. And, to an extent, I can shop the exchange rate within limits.

Additionally, I can barter it outside any financial framework, on just a handshake in some cases.

So, the concept of cripto currency is too complex to explain in a short post here?

It's a digital currency that you can exchange for goods and services or whatever. You can send directly to a person or some business. Some will require an app to convert it, but it's quick and easy to setup.

Thats nice. Why can't folks get it changed into money at the bank?

And how does it work? What is the difference between the different brands of cripto? Where does it come from?

Once again this thread is not the place for someone to get a lesson in crypto-currency and blockchain technology. There are numerous resources on the internet that you can peruse at your leisure if you are truly interested.

Blockchain? What is that and how does that fit in to this ?

I am interested in passing, as I have an interest in many things, I am not necessarily passionate about. I am willing to listen.

It is my experience that folks who say they know about Cripto can't actually explain it in a concise manner that makes sense. Certainly not in a way that would convince me to put any "real" money into it. . . .and I might, if convinced. I had hoped that the topic of this thread (buying knives with cripto) might bring out someone who can.

Apparently not.

Until the average person can tell me how many crypto currencies a gallon of milk costs I'm going to continue to believe that crypto is something far more in the realm of speculation than in the realm of an actual medium of exchange.

I don't have the time to type out everything you might need to know. Here's a simple and easy explanation https://www.dummies.com/article/bus.../cryptocurrency/what-is-cryptocurrency-237561
