I am a blade nut. I've been collecting for 30 years and I own 200 plus knives.

I have all the major online retailers bookmarked on my mobile browser and I troll the "new arrivals" pages like my Wall Street friends scan the financial feeds. I also love a good old fashioned knife shop and when my job takes me on the road, as it often does, I find the last few remaining blade shops wherever I go.

The only store left in the San Francisco area that carries a huge selection of blades from just about every manufacturer is WeBe Knives. The location is funky if you're a local as you have to dodge an endless sea of tourists to find the shop halfway out on Pier 39, but it's worth the trip. They carry everything and they tend to get the new stuff before it shows up on most of the online sites.

A young guy who used to work at the shop bought it a couple of years ago and he is blade freak. He and his team of fellow knife nuts are quick to let you get your hands on anything in the store...that's right folks, you can actually handle the knives. They even have a good working knowledge of their craft and can answer questions without having to grab their smart phones and look up the details on KnifeCenter. Their prices are competitive and they are generally willing to deal if you're serious about buying.

If you're going to be in the area and you love blades, it is well worth making the trip. There are so few independent knife stores left. If you love blades like I do then you now how important it is to support these guys.

I see that you're actually associated with these folks. Not so cool to make it sound like you are just a knife knut. At least be upfront with who and what you are and then purchase the dealer membership for this site to promote your wares.

For those interested, this firm has a sales oriented blog associated with the store's web site and the sole contributor to that blog is one Noah Rolland (NRollandSF).

This^^^. Thought it's probably too late for that because you made this post.

Where's Gizmoman, with his patented trademark phrase: "Someone's got some splainin to do!!!"

It didn't take a rocket scientist to know, that something wasn't adding up with these 2 thread's (especially the 10+ year old one that was resurrected from the dead by this guy).

BTW Noah- You could at least purchase a membership here & support BladeForum's in the same way that you are asking it's member's to patronize your business, & support yours...

Pure comedy........you aren't the first and won't be the last. Save face and get a dealer's membership and promote away or pack it up.

Maybe you should read him his Miranda Rights, Sean:

"You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right, it may be used against you by the Mod's & member's on this forum."

If you live in the Bay Area and have friends or relatives visiting, you let them go to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Warf on the day you have to work. Crappy tourist trap and WBK has always been a joke in the almost 20 years living here.
BTW Shaver Cutlery shop in Oakland is a humble struggling small business (that I do not own etc) that has a lot of BM's, Spydercos and KAI to handle. And the big guy (Rex?) will chat and let you handle lots of knives in their inventory. It is a 5 minute walk from BART, the mass transit train system, goes to and from SF all day. So NO it is not the only one left.

The overpriced fruit, restaurants and shell art stores and more worth the trip to Pier 39 than WBK. Only the Sea Lions are worth going to that place.

Perhaps not a bad idea. :p

The straight up funniest thing here is that this thread was clearly an attempt at damage control after he came across the other thread from 2000. It would seem to me WBK came here to see if they were known about or popular at all. He put his company name into a search, saw that thread, had a bit of a brown trouser moment and rather than just letting 14 year old sleeping dogs lie he has ended up totally shooting himself down...... A splendid show, old chap. Well done. :D

Nailed it!

Noah/WeBe Knives, would have been much better served, letting his ancient thread lie dormant. Fourteen long years ago...what year did BladeForums begin anyway?

This just isn't true. Town Cutler has been around a few years now serving the entirety of SF's culinary staff, Bernal Cutlery is still new but showing promise. Both of these guys have great selections, competitivley priced, know what they're talkking about and won't bring back 14 year old threads promoting their business without paying to play. Don't suffer wading through a sea of endless tourists when you can just buy online. Take it from this SF local.

LMAO "NRollandSF"? I am going to go out on a limb and guess that you're Noah Rolland, as in Noah Rolland who's posting up on WeBeKnives' blog. Right?

Gang, just Google "WeBeKnives" and "Noah Rolland".

I don't understand why people feel the need to try the cornball "HAY GUYS I'M JUST A KNIFE KNUT LIKE YOU! CHECK OUT THIS AWESOME SHOP!!" schtick. "What? No, I don't own or work at the shop, I'm just a regular guy who loves knives! Like you! I promise!"

"Please visit my shop." :(

LOL

Interesting thread considering I was just there a week ago. Didn't buy anything though. Price is the toughest thing for me to overcome with these boutique shops. I am sure it's a tough business to be in. I don't envy the owner.

It was a cheese ball move to try and play the card of the normal Everyman excited about a rad knife store. I also have trouble with the support me and my business cry. If your product is unique, or your service and support are top notch, I would wager that the business will come.
