Only one Busse?

I"m looking at the ASH right now and have a question. Whats the difference between the regular and the magnum handles? Is the handle actually longer on the magnum? Does anyone have a pic of the difference? I'm not seeing anything on the website showing the differences.

Magnum is thicker, fits those big hands better. ASH-1 rocks, I love them.

if you're looking for just one busse, get an FFBM. if you're looking for a busse that's a good all around knife, get an ASH-1. you can get an FFBM from the exchange for not much more than they originally sold for; it's a wise investment.
you can also pick up a scrap yard DF AND an ASH-1 for not too much more than a FFBM, which would give you to beautiful examples of busse family knives.

FBM..simply the best.

Only one??

Ok. Now that we've got that behind us, I would purchase an all-arounder. For most people, that would be a blade between 6" and a max of 8.5".

If we're talking Scrap Yard, then I guess that would be a S6. You might still find a reasonably priced one. Maybe a Yard Guard or a Yard Hook. You should be able to find any of these for less than $150.

Swamp Rat? Maybe an M6 or Mini-mojo ($150-$200) but I would more STRONGLY recommend a Chopweiler. You can still find them at the Ratknives for $198.95 retail.

Budget going higher? Look at a CG-ASH1 from Busse. With the heft of the fat CGs, you've got a pretty good all-arounder again. Other options include a Fusion Steel Heart (FSH or HHFSH,) a Hell Razor or SFNO, maybe a SJTAC. The range for these other options are $400 - $700.

Just my two cents. It's worth less than that, actually. For my *only* blade, it probably wouldn't be a dedicated EDC or heavy chopper.

If you decide on a different blade, as long as you don't grossly overpay, you should be able to resell/trade it and get a different "one blade." Something like an ergo NO or SH, maybe a SHSH, the skies the limit! Just like your credit card limit should be! (Yeah, right. Only one... LOL)

That sounds like an outstanding plan. I will call Busse in the morning. Anyone know if they offer a military discount :D With their product in such high demand I'm guessing not.

I wasnt the ASH With the black micarta magnums and OD blade just like the one pictures. Should match my Wilson CQB nicely

For me, the reason to buy a Busse is to have knife that can take a beating, and know you can trust it to get the job done.

If I could have only one Busse, it would be my CGFBM. Every time I chop with it, I get a big smile. While I love my AD, I feel that if I had to, I could probably get by with any small fixed blade knife, but not my FBM. She's sticking with me to the end:thumbup: While I've only tried the CGFBM, my guess is that any FBM would be a great knife to own.

Sorry I'm new to Busse what is the CGFBM and how does it differ from the CGFBM?

I aint buyin a BM of any type until I fully understand all the models and know EXACTLY which one I want. That too much $$$ to be throwin around on an uneducated purchase

Ahhhh, finally, a man after my own heart. :D

For a larger blade, I'd pick the CGFBM hands down. (Or a SHBM if I caould get a hold of one)

The CGFBM's are much lighter and more easily maneuverable than the FFBM. I've owned both..... I sold and traded my FFBM's. My CGFBM's will be with me until the end also. Corrugated bevels, INFI, what's not to love? :D

Edited to add a pic of a CGFBM and a FFBM

Personally, I love whichever Busse knife is in my hand at that moment... Can't HAVE just ONE!!! :D:thumbup:

ABALE...if I could only have one Busse. Other knives I have would have to fill the gaps.

Love the handle and Blade shape on all the BAIII's but like the thinner ABA's better than any knife made.

Well you know if you ever want to get rid of that ABALE.............. ;)

Edited to add: At least I still have the pictures of it to make me happy.

I'm new to Busse and poor, so I only have experience with the Fusion Battle Mistress line (FBM)

GGFBM: (Combat Grade Fusion Battle Mistress)
Has corregated bevels, 0.250" thick. Lightest of the 3.

FFFBM: (Fat Flat Fusion Battle Mistress)
No bevels, 0.32" thick. Not full height grind. (link is to FBMSE, but the blades are similar)

FBMLE: (limited edition Fusion Battle Mistress)
Full height grind, 0.312" thick.

The FFFBM is going to be your cheapest heavy chopper. I like the bevels of the GCFBM, but others don't. If I had the money, the FBMLE would probably be my pick, but I like how light the GCFBM is for packing.

BusseCollector
has put together a great site with specs:thumbup:

mrsle, because it was my first busse.

daba, because it is perhaps my most usable busse.

ak47 or ruck, because swords are cool.

ash1, because it is perhaps the best all around busse i have.

any fbm (cg,ff,le,e,zt,proto) or any fsh (le,hh,hog, moash, proto). i don't think one will suffice ("pass the kool-aid please!")
