only ONE knife - which would it be?

If you were allowed to own, carry and use only ONE knife from now on, which would it be? That means for utility, self defense, whittling, EDC, making a sandwich - one knife for everything.

Ridiculous question, I know, but it's of interest to a person like me who likes to think about just walking away from it all and living simply, even though I don't actually do it.

I think for me it might have to be my Buck 110.

(I hope this question hasn't been asked too many times already on the forum.)

Ugh... One knife? That's almost as horrifying as the "what if guns didn't exist" post! Well, I guess it'd have to be my ole reliable - L.E.O. made by Trace Rinaldi.

It's the one knife I just couldn't bear to be without.

I'd have to say my Camillus Dominator. I carry it most every day, use it every day, and am tickled pink with the whole package. Today, it opened mail, cut summer sausage, opened 3 boxes, cut up a bunch of cardboard for recycling and made me feel safe when I went to the bank. However, just for the record... there is no such thing as just one knife!

10 days ago, I'd have said it would be my Al Mar SERE 2000, hands down...Now, after having (and "playing" with) a Benchmade 710 for a couple of days, I'd have to say that if I could have ONLY one folder, it would have to be my "710"...(But I'd ALSO have to sneak in my SERE 2000!.:D.).

Alright, another convert to the 710 gang! :) 710 gang... Kinda like the sound of that.

There's just something about the 710... Not the prettiest knife. It just seems to be the best all around knife in my collection. It's big enough, mean enough, strong enough, quick enough, comfortable enough, etc. With all my other knives there is always some issue with them. To small, to slow, to bulky, to big, not sturdy enough, etc.

Of those I currently own, my Strider SMF. If it was truly going to have to be the last knife I ever owned I would maybe choose a burly fixed blade like a Strider MT-L or something from Busse.

But that really is a despicable question.:p

For now, my Small Sebbie. But that could very well change when I reveice my Lochsa :D

I could only image having one knife if blade length was not an issue. If that's the case, I would go for something like a Griptillian, maybe a D-2 Griptillian if I can find one. If blade length is an issue, I would take the Calypso jr. or Mini Griptillian.

my SAK one hander. It could handle most anything and has a can opener and screwdrivers to boot.

I hesitate… my Large Regular Sebenza or my wood handled Laguiole ?

The Sebenza !!! (of course :D)

Talk about beating the dead horse.

However, these topics are always fun. I'll say this much, if you are talking only one knife, it would not be a folding knife.

I would no more take a folding knife over a fixed blade than I would a handgun over a rifle for one carry anywhere do all tool. Folders are nice backup but not primary tools. Of course if it's all you got, then it will do.

What I do carry every day; a small Left Handed Sebenza. :)

If I could only have 1 it would have to be a large regular s30v Sebenza.
