If all of the knives you ever owned were in your house, and the house caught fire, and you were only able save just one and only, one knife, which knife would it be and why? What made you choose that single knife over all the others you own?

My custom duracoated black smatchet with authentic Chuck Norris laser engraved signature of course, because I would die without its sheer awesomeness in my life. Maybe it would be my tactismatchet. Or my bushcraftitactismachet. Any other variations on the smatchet?

Here we go again with the one knife only....

I know their are knives out there for different uses and different tasks. I am not trying to ask people to pick a knife out of their collection to which they think excels in all knife tasks, but rather pick a knife for whatever reason it may be,

ex: "it was my first knife I ever owned"
"it belong to my dad"
"it has always been my favorite knife"
"i do a lot of camping and it's my best camp knife"
"its my best edc knife", etc.

Of course I'd have to chose my SRM 710, it brought me back from The Nam in one piece!

It was the only one I could lay my hands on....:p

come on guys, he's a newer member who just asked a question.Lets play nice :D

I'd probably grab my dad's old survival knife, that he bought in Saigon back in 1968.He bought it from a street vendor.Brought it back( actually one of the few items he did bring back, as with alot of 'Nam Vets, he wanted to forget it all) Gave it to me and I'll never part with it.

Right now, I would probably grab my new in the box spyderco para2 20CP, my para2 20CP user model would already in my pocket so both would be saved.

It would probably be my para II. I have been carrying more customs lately but if I only had one knife to use I would want one that folded and would be easy to maintain. The para is pretty rust resistant and the steel would keep a working edge for a longer while.

It would be whatever knife I was carrying the day before in my pants pocket... since my pants and a shirt from the floor would be the only two things I'd grab if there was a fire in my house, before promptly exiting. I'd also try to grab my internal frame backpack with emergency supplies too.

If there were a fire tonight, it would be my Vic Spirit X and Boker Pocket Bowie. they are my EDC these days, so they would be readily at hand. The pair of them are together in a 2-slot pocket sheath, so I get two. ;)

The more sensible choice would be my SDS Nessmuk, because it is a custom and not so easily replaced. Plus, I really like it. It's not kept where I could grab it quickly though.

Helle Leuku -- a gift from my grandparents from the old country when I was but a bairn. Excellent knife anyway.

Lighten up, this is a totally different kind of thread than the normal "1 Knife" questions.

As for me, if the house was burning and I realized I could not save all my knives.... I don't think I'd save any. I think I'd just sit down, next to them, and let the place burn around us. Atleast, that way, we'd die together.

Seriously, I'd grab this hand made piece a friend of the family did in AK. It is BEAUTIFUL and apparently they're being sold at Bass Pro now (30 yr after mine was given as a gift) yea, that's what I'd grab :-)

Here we go again with the one knife only....

It has a good spin on the question though.

My answer would be easy.

If my house caught on fire, I would issue ZERO thought to what knife I would save. I would save my family and myself...and because I always have a knife on me, I would likely (by default) save that knife.

What is that knife? Well, it changes over time. Recently (depending on time of day) it would be a custom fixed blade, or a Gayle Bradley.

I'd let tthe CRKs, ZTs and Spartans burn to save my late grandfather's old Schrade.

He should have done his homework... this must be "only one knife" thread #726 or something...

Nah, but it is thread #189

I'll play though. Looking at my current rotation, there is one knife that would perform all EDC tasks and still function in a hard use and tactical role.
That would be my Emerson CQC-10. It would do everything I need it to do.

It would suck though, to watch my Hinderer's, CRK's, and Strider's burn.
