Only One Rat knife.

I'de say rc-6. You never know when you'll need that extra umph.

Last camping trip I carried my RC6 more than any other RAT. large blade performed well at all task in my camp.

I think the 6 can do everything you want, with a little "umph" when you need it. Sneak an Izula in your pack and you'd be double covered.

I have to go with the RC-5, if you can only have one, why not an indestructible one.

I have an Ontario RAT-3 and RAT-7 and have just ordered an RC-5. With that in mind, I've found the RAT-3 to be occasionally too small and the RAT-7 somewhat unwieldy from time to time - keep in mind that I have not beat the RC-5 yet, only handled it in a store - but I will predict that it will become my "go-to" general purpose knife...

+1 on the RC-5 only because you said tactical/military applications and that one seems nearly bulletproof

Camping - RC-4 works great and carries easily. You almost forget you're carrying it

Military - RC-5 hands down.

RC-5!!! Can do anything you put it to. Everyone i showed this knife to is amazed at how its built. Perfect camping knife IMO

Just got my RAT 4 the other day and it's perfect for deployment! I look forward to putting it to work!

I'd take an rc 6 :p
it's just my favrite alround rat knife exept edc, it might be a couple of inches to big for that :D

RC6. I've carried a 7" blade for most my life so the 6 is a natural for me. Coupled with the RC3 and I'm good to go.

I can't deny the the all around goodness of the RC4 either.

How can a person only have one?

I have an old TAK1 plain in D2 which is great, and I've just got an Izula which hasn't been field tested yeat, so on grounds that one knife isn't a pure bred RAT, and the other hasn't been christened, I can't really make any claim here. I like the old TAK1 and probably depend on it more than any of my other knives. The O RAT-7 was too big for here in the UK, and being more arboreal, an ax is a better option. I like the Atax on account of it being small and with no handle to carry around for that reason. I also have a Gerber LMF which is good, but not very refined. And I used to have a CR Roberts which had an awesome shape to it and sits great in the hand for almost any task, but I passed that on to a friend. So ATM it's the dependable TAK1 with my backup U2 hopefully being replaced by the new kid on the block, my Izula.
