Only Powernoodle could cut himself with a closed Umnumzaan

I've done the same exact thing with a large Sebenza. Squeezed my hand in to dig out my truck keys and my pinky slipped into the open back...... nice little sting and a handfull of blood. At least the blade was sharp so it really didn't hurt.

Same thing happened to me. I had an early one and it was very easy cut to my finger on the tip when the blade was closed. I actually sent it back to CRK and had them fix it.

Same here with my new Spyderco Brad Southard - I noticed it carries alot of blade in that handle and the blade is fairly wide, so the opening is well. First day I had it, I cut my pointing finger pretty good. Just another lesson learned I suppose.

Well, look on the bright side: At least you didn't reach into your pocket for a pistol;)

I am highly paranoid about a negligent discharge (also from my gun), so nothing goes in the pocket with my gun. Its one thing to cut yourself with a closed knife, but its a whole other level of stupid to blow your kneecap off with a .38.

I have two StarTacs and I'm very careful with them but my main edc is a tanto umnum which is slightly shorter than the standard harpoon profiled blade and is therefore idiot proofed- at least for thus idiot ;D

It finally happened to me too. Literally 3 mins ago, I cut my finger while opening my small insigno sebenza. Guess it was about time we bonded.

That just underscores the furious power of the Mighty Zaan. Powernoodle just identified a bit of marketing brilliance...The Mighty Zaan; "It slices & dices with the blade open or closed. Use it as a fixed blade when closed or a folder when open". The many fine attributes of The Zaan are undeniable; it should have its own website.
