Onslaught too thin?

3mm is actually a bit thick for my tastes. Definitely would NOT call that a thin blade.

.121 blade stock definitly isnt thin but the problem with the 741 is that its only 3mm at the very bottom of the blade near the pivot and much much thinner the rest of the way up to the tip. Its ground way too thin for such a massively big 4.28 inch blade.

Funny--the thing I love about the Onslaught is how thin it is! I'm a sucker for broad, thin blades. Must be why I like machetes! :D

It's a piece that necessitates using it like a knife and not like a pry bar, but c'mon guys...I think we can handle that. There are few production folders on the market right now that could outslice the Onslaught right now. ;)

Yeah I agree. No one likes beefy overbuilt folders more than I do, but I love the Onslaught, have carried it for EDC and it's a great knife, and carries comfortably to boot, for such a large folder.
If they made it with a 5mm thick blade I'd buy that too. I've never felt underequipped with it, but it's true, use it purely for what a knife is designed to do.

I, for one, like the thin blade. Lighter to carry for EDC duty, very fast in the hand to manipulate. Makes for a great defensive slicer. Great weight to blade length ratio.

I have other thicker blade folders of similar blade length in inventory, but they do weigh much more. I'm more likely to carry the lighter weight folder than the heavier 'tanks' for EDC...

Nice to have a lighter weight option in that blade length range...

Not planning on using it as a prybar... ;)

I always heard the Onslaught had very noticeable flex under hard cutting. That flex, combined with the 154CM/price, and the 7oz. weight always pushed me away.

It's a shame too, because I love Lum designs, and have always wanted one with the thumb hole/Axis lock. Guess I'll just have to give up a quarter inch of blade and 2.75oz., and stick to my Military. :D

My onslaught always seems to get carry time over my 610. It cuts a little better and I never have a job it can't do. That being said, I'm pretty easy on my EDC knives (no prying or batoning with my folders.)
