ontario blackwind katana

That people have noticed the post but no one has the item in question may in and of itself be some sort of information...

they are available for less than $100, and they don't mention a steel type, so I wouldn't expect much for quality.

Why not buy one and see if it is any good?

Perhaps it's not quite so obvious... or you might not have asked the original question. :)

Or to be less cagey with swords you get what you pay for. If you purchase a 100 dollar sword expect a 100 dollar sword. They are not cheap because someone feels like giving you a bargain deal out of the goodness of their heart, they lack many of thing things both aesthetic and functional that make a good sword and were probably pounded out in some third world country somewhere.

A lot of people are perfectly happy with a 100 dollar sword, they want something they can chop up brush with in the backyard or wear in their back scabbard at the local ren faire. I suspect that this sword is perfectly adequate for that.

I reckon you might be better off with a Hanwei Banshee..probably around the same price and I know people who have them and like them.

yeah ok , i`ve seen one i like anyway , but i`m not a huge fan of carbon steel

Sirgalant, may I suggest to you that stainless is not the way to go in a sword. Its crystaline structure does not bear the stress of the longer blade as well as carbon steel does. If you doubt this, go over to SwordForum.com and read what the folks there have to say about stainless steel swords.

ok , thanks for enlightening me . the one i have my eye on isnt a blackwind katana anymore , but i know where to get a full tang with 8,000 layer carbon steel blade for $900 aussie dollars , with genuine rayskin and genuine japanese cotton .
