Love the grind, the lanyard slot, the sheath looks practical too! Not feeling the guard shape though.

Is that as thin behind the edge as it looks? Looks like it could slice well!

Not my style, but looks like a good user.love hedgehog sheaths though

The blade looks very well designed, but the handle seems a bit odd...I'd have to hold one before I dropped the cash for it.

is this knife really made out of 154CM @ ~54 HRC as described at knifecenter.com? i can't believe it...

Wow! How much did that set you back?

Rick

Picked it up at knifeworks.

The edge is pretty thin, slices tomatoes well but still feels like a thicker blade.

The handle feels like holding an ESEE-6... it is perfect for larger hands.

I wouldn't know from looking at it, but according to hedgehog's site, etc... they claim it is. It sharpens well, and seems to hold an edge well after a little yard work.

I have to add that the quality on knife was poor when I got it, the blade edge was ground down more on one side and the micarta and spine of the blade had burn marks and wavy grind lines. I sent an email to Paul Sheiter (owner of hedgehog) and he called me back in less than an hour. He is pretty big on quality control and apologized, offered to do something for me and was going to look into what happened at ontario knife. Despite all that, I think it is going to be a great blade.

yep, the guard shape really kill the line of the knife.

I too picked up one of these recently, also from Knifeworks. The edge grinds on my knife were a bit wonky as well, but I fixed them up on my DMTs. Otherwise, I do really like the knife. It feels good in the hand and has great cutting geometry. Nice pics Norsman :)

I picked one of these up last week and I love it.
First thing I did was re-profile the guard. Now it's rounded and just looks better.
I also added 8 eyelets to the sheath just to have some extra tie down options.
The fit and finish on my Blackbird is outstanding, the edge is perfect and it came out of the box laser sharp.
I think the knife is a fantastic deal.

Here's a pic of the mods I made-

I have to ask why does a knife designed by a leather company come with a nylon sheath?

It looks allmost same as this german knife.

I really dig that nylon rig!

I think the concept of the knife is outstanding. This is basically a modern rendition of a Kephart. I really like the thinner blade as its a much better slicer and carver than the 3/16 and 1/4 inch blades other survival knives are made of. Too many people put to much into making a knife "indestructable" as opposed to making it perform really well for bushcraft and survival tasks. This knife hits a balance between the slicing ability of bushcraft style knives and the toughness required in survival situations. I actually thought about picking one up but the handle shape threw me off. A more simple shape like the RAT's and ESEE's would have looked a lot better. However, the knife is a great deal since 154CM is a lot more expensive than 1095 or 5160. I know this is Paul Scheiter's ideal knife but with a couple of modifications (especially to the handle) I think it would be a lot more popular.
