Ontario Knife Company bought Ranger knives!!!

yeah, I hope everything is in Justin's favor, he's a great guy, all the best to him and his future. he's at blade now, probably getting drunk! :p

I wonder if you can still order customs.

I hope that ontario doesnt screw this up.

Holy mother though!

I dunno. I liked that it was an independent outlet. I'm not sure I have the cash for this to happen right now. I sort of wanted a RD Hawk, but have been holding off because of cost.

I'm happy for Justin if this is good for him. On the other hand, being able to deal directly with Justin was one of the best things about Ranger Knives. How I view this will depend a lot on what Ontario develops. Perhaps this is their bid to replace the RAT line.

I guess that's cool for Justin, but I'm not a fan of Ontario, so with that said, I just might have to pass on any knives from them.

Well this kind of thing is inevitable when demand for your product outstrips your ability to produce it. Hopefully both Ontario and Ranger have learned from past mistakes with other companies and I hope Justin protects himself and his products. I am hoping that this addition makes Ontario better, and allows Justin to continue to affect the industry and make a killer product. As long as his products live up to his standards, I will continue to buy them. I just hope they continue to make his Hawks.

That is my feeling too. But, when I read the thread about this, it said that it would allow Justin to do more custom knives. That is the only way I would buy a Ranger knife NOW, is if it was one of his customs. I do not care for Ontario either.

I see you found it TKC! I'm still shocked too
but I think we have to support Justin, whatever happens, he's done so much for us.
Let's wait and see what happens.

I would think that if Ontario has purchased Ranger Knives that all the models that are currently made by Ranger will be the property of Ontario, and any future knives that Justin makes will have to have a different design.

I wonder if Ontario will use 5160. Don't get me wrong, I like 1095 a lot, when its properly heat treated, but I think the 5160 gave Justin's RD blades an extra measure of toughness.

I wouldn't worry about Justin. He has gone through troubles before, I'm sure he covered his bases.

I think much of this depends on what Justin has to say about the details of the deal. Who's gonna make semi-customs, who's gonna own which designs, how are the Ontario made RDs, for example, going to be made, etc, etc.

All of that said, if there is ANYBODY out there who is (1) going to make sure his cusomers are taken care of and (2) not going to allow anyone to sully his reputation...its gonna be Justin.

I wonder how warranty issues will be handled for both stock and custom Ranger knives in use today. I will sadly miss the very personal treatment Justin gave each of my customs:(

I hope Ontario will benefit of Justin's credibility.

I also hope they are not dumb enough to piss a former Ranger.
