Ontario Knife Company bought Ranger knives!!!

I asked the man himself, and he will still make customs, and they will be warrantied by him. If you have a original it is also under warranty by Justin, but the new Ontario versions will be under Ontario's warranty. Sounds fair to me.

I was going to wait to get a Ranger knife for the right time. But now it seems that if you want one you should get one now to get the Justin made ones. You never know about to QC with Ontario.

What's this "if it's good for Justin" stuff? Give him some credit. It always amazes me how sanctimonious folks on this forum get about stuff they have no direct interest in. I know all about the RAT stuff, and I simply don't care. I owe no knifemaker anything, and they owe me nothing. I continue to make knife purchases on their value to me. Not them.

Good luck to both companies. May you both be successful.

Talk about sanctimonious! :D

That's a lot of what went wrong between RAT and Ontario: RAT can't tell you anymore if knives with their name on them are worth buying. Do you mean once you've spent your money, the maker or manufacturer has no more obligation to you?

I talked to Justin yesterday, and he is all sold out. He suggested that I should try actiongear.com. They are also sold out except for the necker. Justin also told me that the R.A.K will have a handle now, and that and the RD series will be available again in about 4-6 weeks, but this was told to me early yesterday morning, so it could have changed over the course of the day.

Hey Guys..

Anyway you look at it Justin is Top Shelf. I wish him all the best and stand behind him 110%...

I had always thought I would eventually buy a Ranger Knife, but with all the Ontario RAT quality and warranty issues probably not. I guess I missed my opportunity to get what was a very good knife at a more than fair price. Oh well, there are always the new Beckers coming out in the Fall from Kabar.

I wonder if Ontario will use 5160. Don't get me wrong, I like 1095 a lot, when its properly heat treated, but I think the 5160 gave Justin's RD blades an extra measure of toughness.

Ontario's new Spec-Plus knives are going to be 5160, so it's likely they will do the Rangers in it too.

Ok guys sorry I haven't been here much lately but with all the goings on it has been hard.

To set everyone at ease I was very carefull going into this deal and will continue to be because ultimately it is my name on the product.

Ontario will be using my same vendors for just about everything. So product quality won't be an issue. They are also going to use all the same materials and heat treat that I use. So about the only difference between one of mine and what they will produce is who assembled the knife. That and a stamp on the tang. Everything else remains the same for warranty and all that good stuff!!

I appreciate everyone's concern and support on this and I am looking forward to getting the new stuff out!!!!!!

Thanks for the word Justin. we are still going to "Brag" about you bro (I am) and send them newbies and those looking for a great user to a guy/company who understands what we want, and cares.

Personally I trust you and your decisions with steel J-man and other things. So "Live Long and Design Great Things" bro
