I have a Seneca with the stacked leather handle and stag pommel. Some of their most beautiful knives were the Quartermaster, Mark I, Parachutist, Seneca, Cayuga, and Keuka. The Ontario Quartermaster P3 was always one on my favorite sheath knives, very sturdy blade with a great grip and sheath.

That mater didn’t have a chance
Actually I did find a bit more in that thread. I said “printed” in my original post but I should have said “laser etched.” It looks like it wasn’t a cost-saving thing - rather it appears that stamping may have been considered potentially damaging to a powder coated blade. If I read it correctly, powder coating requires deeper stamping which can damage the blade. As I think more about it, I have a few powder coated Kabar knives where the tang stamp is not as crisp as it is on an uncoated blade. I assume the powder coating fills in the stamp some.In the sticky thread two below this one, Mr. Maragni posted something that might help:
Attention Post in thread 'Ask Ontario'
Sorry about the delay in answering these questions, I was waiting to hear back from Ontario.
Mr. Billy the Hungry- Ontario does not recommend removing the safety mechanism from the RAT-1 assisted opener. The knife does have a detent and will work like a manual RAT if the spring is inoperative but the action will be stiffer than the manual RAT. Thank you for your suggestion to offer a regular RAT with G-10 scales and I have passed on your idea to the appropriate people.
Mr. zannussi01- All OKC3S bayonets are now laser etched and I'm not sure when Ontario began to laser etch their blades...
There might be more info in that thread.
