Ontario Kukri uneven blade grind

That sucks man. Customer service took care of you quickly, then dropped the ball totally. I though Tooj was going to personally pick one out? The two Ontario's I have, my son's actually, the khukuri and Marine Kabar copy, were great. I can't stand this sort of thing. I had a defective khukuri I bought from England, and it wasn't cheap. It was too soft at the tip end (Way too soft near the belly). After months of emails complaining (and posting on a forum;)), I was told it'd be replaced. 6+ months later the replacement arrived. Hand picked as well. Great balance and incredibly light weight, but the edge meandered to and fro like a lazy river. Impossible to sharpen. It is the last I'll own from that company. It's a shame when that happens. Good luck.

Here's a pic of mine's edge.

Hi JDK1

Who made that kukri from England?

It's a Tora. The shame is it is a 21 oz. Mk. II. It is truly the best copy of a period Mk. II/M43 I've held. Even with the wandering edge, it handles and slices/chops like a dream. I believe the kami just got a little heavy handed with the hammer as there's a big dent on the blade at that spot. It's an amazing khukuri, truly one of the best I've owned, but that edge is a nightmare for sharpening and I can imagine it adds odd stresses to the edge during chopping. I can't fully trust it. It was almost perfection:(

I tought so,i was expecting this. There is one guy out there (youtube) who often represent Tora blades in his videos and claiming "only Tora" is making "best genuine kukri", while at the same time claiming that Nepal based companies (naming especially two with best feedback out there) - do not know, how to do "genuine kukri"and that they do "tourist kukris" according to him...Also claiming English based company knows better, than those Nepal based, how to make a Nepalese national symbolic blades.Sounds very funny to me.

Not to derail the thread, but I'd like to clarify. My favorite traditional khukuri is my Tora Regimental/Battalion Issue. I love the world war era military khukuri. IMHO, Tora is the only game in town for replicas of those. The khukuri houses have replicas, but from what I've seen they are grossly overweight. I also like light khukuri, as does Simon. But, QC was obviously a problem, at one point at least, and put a bad taste in my mouth. That being said, I've received defective khukuri from other traditional companies as well. The difference is the customer service. Again, while this was a Tora lemon, it is still great in many ways and my Tora Reggie will always be my favorite Nepali blade.
