Ontario Randall Knives.... Anyone have any experience with the Rats with D2?

I bought the Ontario RAT TAK-1 in D2 and the edge was really steep. I reprofiled it to thin it out some, but the knife is so heavy/clunky that I never take it anywhere.

I'm a Busse fan, and I know a lot of guys think Busse knives are overbuilt. Well, my Ontario feels like a brick, even compared to a Busse. I'm a big guy with big hands, and the knife just seems to feel too heavy, blocky and "lifeless".

I guess I didn't really answer your question, but I wanted to share my opinion of the knife before you bought one.

Stay sharp,

my 2 cents. my ontario tak knife has the handles slightly to one side so there is a bit of a ridge where dirt collects and pressure points are created qc is hit or miss at best.. get the RAT.

If buying an Ontario RAT, I'd definitely recommend the 1095 version.

I bought an Ontario RAT7 in D2 before all the troubles began.
The blade was dull. I sent it back in exchange for the 1095 version, which I still have.
It was very sharp out of the box and really solidly made. I really like the 1095 knife; it's a brute.

And then I had a similar experience with an Ontario RAT3.
