Ontario Ranger Knives!

Though I'm guessing '5150' was a typo,
as a fan of the Ranger RD Series (since buying an RD9 from Justin way back)
I just want to note the steel is 5160
- a low alloy carbon steel known especially for toughness.

good catch - thanks!
I went back and fixed it.
5160 is great stuff for a chopper.

Also, what are some other good knives made by Ontario?

I have been getting into the Spec Plus line lately. I find they are very outstanding knives for the money. I have the SP-51 and SP-48, and will also probably get the SP-46 soon. That 5160 steel is performing great. I really don't mind their Kraton handles either as they are very comfortable and pretty tough.

The sheaths aren't the greatest , but work in the meantime while you consider something else. I may make my own as it's a hobby of mine.

The designs and blade shapes are appealing also. These are working knives , not meant to be kept shiny. I feel very confident using them in the bush so far.

Another one I've been eyeing is the SK-5 Blackbird. Looks like a great bushknife.

You also can't go wrong with any of the Ontario Spec-Plus line. SP's are hard use knives Made in America & give you a LOT of knife for the $$.

I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A SIGNATURE SERIES...If anyone likes to sell his, or knows about one for sale, please let me know.

THANKS.

For something a little more military oriented, I love the SP-6 fighter. It's pretty much the Spec-Plus knife version of the OKC Marine Bayonet. To say the SP-6 feels lively is an understatement!

I'm also a fan of the SP-10 Marine Raider Bowie. If I were to be lost in the woods this is the knife I want to have with me. It's a beast of a chopper and easily takes a hair shaving edge. Sheath on this one is actually quite good and easy to carry.

Lastly, for $40 you can't go wrong with the old school leather handled Ontario Pilot survival knife. If you like fixed blades this classic is a must have. I consider it one of the best bug out bag knives available.

very lastly, The ASEK system, is just cool!
