Ontario Ranger RTB

Thanks. I actually read those before I called Ontario.

Try it yourself. Ontario's toll-free number is (800) 222-5233.

It sure does. And Ontario STILL isn't willing to acknowledge that it's made out of 440C. How do I know? Because I just called them and asked them. :(

I missed this post bld522 ... sorry about that.

Good thing you trust Justin and I ........... lol :D:D:D

I do trust you and Justin. But it's amazing to me that Justin would let Ontario get away with not specifying the correct alloy when Ontario's failure to do so will have a negative impact on sales (as you correctly pointed out).

Your right.

They have a lot of the numbers mixed up.

Most of the standard line is 5160 ....... but a lot is marked 1095.

They have Signature Series and Bush Series marked on the same blades at vendors.

If you look at Knifecenter and some other sites the descriptions are totally wrong.

Oh well. For the vast majority of knife buyers I doubt it makes any difference. It's just guys like us that like to have our facts straight and are willing to take the time to make that happen. :)

I agree .... but you are right though .... to the big time knife nuts they want to know and the steel really matters.

... and thumbs up for actually calling !

Hey Sarge. Thanks for the info. Now it makes me want one more than ever! Something about the design just speaks to me. Glad to hear it is actually 440C as I've had great results with this steel.:) Btw, that is some impressive collection you have!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Right on bro! You really want to check out the new Tactical Knives Magazine to see the new article on it then!

Very nice. I notice the article also states that the knife is constructed of 440C. Seems the only people who don't know that are the Customer Service reps at Ontario.

Now where's the "hunting" version Justin was talking about. I'd like it better without the inscriptions on the blade.

.

I think the hunter will be released at the Shot show this coming year ... but I'm not totally sure.

There might be a folder and two Signature Series blades also.

... plus a karambit .... bunch of stuff.
