Ontario Rat 1 design change?

Just curious if the knife has had any slight changes in design. I'm looking online for the D2 version and every rat I come across seems to have a slightly different blade shape, and the handle seems different. Or maybe the pictures I'm seeing are skewed? For example, where the blade is swept up, on my rat (2 years old) is very steep where it sweeps up. The newer ones seems to have a more gradual upswept design. Any input to clarify this?

I don't know if a design change but post this over in the Ontario forum here on BF. Ontario will likely respond w/ an answer. Wondering if there is s slight difference in geometry between the Aus 8 versions and the D2 versions?

One thing to be careful of is the sellers on Ebay from China. Those are fake Rats. However, if you're buying a D2 version from a US supplier, they should be legit.

Completely forgot there was a forum dedicated to Ontario. Thank you for pointing it out, and I always stay away when the seller is from Hong Kong (mostly overseas) thanks again!

There are a lot of fake RATs sold by Stateside sellers also. Just be careful and make sure you buy from a reputable dealer. I have an old AUS8 RAT, a fairly new AUS8 RAT and a new CF/D2 RAT. I'll pull them out tonight and see if I see any differences in blade profile. I do remember thinking that my oldest RAT had the best fit and finish...

I've got RAT 1's from the first run to the new D2 and inbetween.

Only changes have been from the early single reversible thumbstud, to the current double one, and the switch from the RAT (Randall Adventure Training" logo on the blade and pocket clip, to the current "OKC" logo.

This is true, there are some fake Rats, one of them is called Rat3, here is the difference:

In regard of the new D2 version, CF or - not, being with different blage geometry - I don't think so... I got all of them, in fact I have 2 D2 Rat1s and comparing them to the old Aus8 Rat 1 I at least, don't see any difference.
Again, another old picture, kind of angled, but still visible:

I can tell that the Ganzo's knock off and also the "Rat3" version do have different geometry, I hope the OP doesn't have one of those.
One thing to tell you have a knock off is the non-slanted standoffs, also the jimping is different and most of the Chinese knockoffs have G10 material for scales, not the nylon.
Hope the pictures will help.

In this case, the clone is better made than the original.Have seen the fake and original, and the fake is better knife for half the price. The Ganzo version is better too.I can not speak of the d2 version though.
