Ontario Rat-2 Folder announced at Shot Show 2013. Anyone have any more info on this?

This is the first I have heard of it but I will definitely be grabing one when they come out. Thanks for the heads up!

Little brother to the rat 1? I was hoping for a slightly larger version. :-(

Larger ? IIRC the Rat-1 is almost 5 inches closed. For me, thats to big for a folder, but a smaller version might be the ticket. The knives have always got great reviews, and are very reasonably priced.

I just broke down and ordered the Rat-1 in venom green, plain edge. I would have preferred it to have around a 4" blade, but it's not to be. Couldn't wait any longer for the orange/satin/plain edge version. Once again, logging into BF cost me $!

If this thing is 2.5" then I'll buy several. Stupid knife laws keep me from carrying the Rat-1, which is my favorite knife.

This is the thread that I first saw the baby RAT on:

Like probably a lot of people, I said ESEE folder?!?! WHAT?!.

I was a little disappointed when the pictures loaded (it was a very frustrating five seconds), but I like the RAT folder, too.

Oh yes. The point of the post was that, from the pictures, I would estimate the blade length around 3".

OAL, about six and a half, opened, and three and a quarter or so closed.

I hope to see a special "Venom Green" version of the smaller RAT - I love the larger RAT-1 in Venom Green but it's just too large for most of my carry needs (and when I go to the larger folders, I typically end up with one of my ZTs).

Me too....When I first unboxed the Rat 1 I was expecting a bigger blade, alot of people say it's a big knife but I think the blade is pretty medium.

got my first one in the mail last week and got another going on order today, they seem large for a folder to me, most of my blades are fixed though and the folders i do have are along the size of the ka-bar dozier, i just know my intial impression when opening the box was that this thing is huge haha! i think it's all realtive to what your used to.

Where did you find the RAT-1 in Venom Green?? I havn't been able to find it any where

I have several friends and relatives that are interested in EDCing knives, but don't want to spend more than $40 or $50 and don't want to carry something with a larger blade. For most of these people, I've ended up recomending a small SAK like the Pioneer or Cadet. However, this looks like a great alternative, assuming it's anywhere near as good as the RAT-1 in the quality/F&F department.

I will probably buy several of these as gifts.

It's an exclusive color for an online knife retailer..... works for me

I have another one of their colors (gray) and it's a hell of a knife.... I'm still trying to figure out how they're manufacturing these with such a high level of fit-and-finish @ $30 street price. I've had tons of lower end (inexpensive) knives and the RAT-1 stands out as one of the best buys out there.

No problems with the size and weight on the RAT-1....... makes for a very nice EDC knife....... but I know there are places that you can't carry a 4" blade. I'm sure they'll sell these like all-you-can-eat pancakes at IHOP.
