Hey all, is there much of a difference between the Ontario rat-3 and the ESEE 3? Everyone raves about the ESEE warrenty, but it seems to me that Ontario also has a very good warrenty. I've never handled either knife.
I have both, the Esee has a thinner blade which makes it a better slicer, it also has a longer handle better heat treat. The Esee is the one I use most.
I own both the RAT-3 and ESEE-3. (Actually I have two of each.) The RAT-3 measures 0.140" and the ESEE-3 0.120" where the blade meets the scales. The RAT-3 has a bit shorter handle than the ESEE-3. The overall length of the RAT-3 is 7-7/8" while the ESEE-3 is 8-5/16". The blade cutting length of the RAT-3 is 3-1/2" and the ESEE-3 3-3/8". The handle width on the RAT-3 is 0.515" and the ESEE-3 is 0.502".
Between the two my preference is for the RAT-3. For some reason it just seems to have a better feel to me.
