Both 5" blades, the sk5 is 154CM and the Rat is 1095. Which makes the better outdoors knife?
Whether it's batonning or feather sticking, cutting up food or other camping/hiking/backpacking needs. Which is more useful? I guess it comes down to which blade steel is better suited for the heavy duty tasks, which blade shape is more versatile and which handle is more comfortable.

Can't afford either right now but I was thinking about these two blades the last few days and wanted some opinions!

I would go with 154CM. Easy to resharpen and holds decent edge. Just my 2 cents.

If "batonning" is a requirement, I'd choose 1095 over 154CM.

154CM would be the better steel for a hunting/skinning knife.
