Finally, after thee hours of searching, I found a review about the Ontatio Rat Model 1 Folder. What do you expect whit a name like that!! Nice review Spoonrobot! How is the knife after a few months using?

Am looking for a heavy duty folder. Something like a Manix or Rat Trap but for less $$$. Must be a good utility/outdoor user. I like the design of this knife and I can get id for a nice price.

Dont know if you are going to buy it here:
http://www.want2have.nl
They are the cheapest in The Netherlands (Eur. 90,-)

I've used this knife very heavy for the last 3 months, absolutely no
blade play so far. Love this flat ground allrounder!!!

Groeten,
Cor.

You are too kind. My pics are pitiful. I need a light box.

Hello Cor,

Yes is was, seen one for €46,- and jumped on it. To bad is was a fault form the site maker, and originally 90,-. So its not so appealing anymore. So I’m still looking for a reasonable pricesed heavy duty outdoor folder.

Well, maybe you should reconsider it.
The RAT folder is imported by ADOLA, and the retail price in the
knife shops is more than Eur. 135,-

You dont buy a knife every day, so for Eur. 90,- you make the best buy on the market!!!!!!

Hi Cor,

Living on a students budget! I bought a knife yesterday and that already was enough for the this seasons, I hope! :grumpy: A folder like that will come one day…..

I’m a person how only needs one or two knifes but in the hunt for the perfect-knife I already bought to many knifes. Really weird is started around last December. Does this have something to do whit my registration date on BF?!

Could very well be!
I know how it is to live on a students budget ( when I was young ).
Dont let the hunt for the "perfect knife" get into a compulsion. The grass will always be greener on the other side of the hill!
Buy a good knife to your needs, call it "My knife" and stick to it.

Hartelijke groeten,
Cor.

I was looking into that new Rat folder myself. The knife looks very well made. Great item and pic's!

I can't figure out how to post pictures like redhawk44p mentioned above?

Get a free account with a photo hosting site, such as Photobucket, or Villiage PHotos.

Take pictures of knives and ignore 'eye-rolling' and an occasional laugh from wife.

Upload pics to photo hosting site.

When you're ready to post, you can insert your picture by clicking the 'yellow box with mountains' icon at the top of the message box. This will bring up a place to paste your picture's html code (you get the code from your photohosting site - copy and paste it).

Preview your post.

Hope this helps.

Here is another one of those comparison pictures, top to bottom, The Spyderco Pacific Salt, The Spyderco Paramilitary, and the Rat-1. The rat has been working all day, please forgive the dirty blade.

I have been unmercifully using mine since they 1st came out. Very happy with it and all it shows for it's abuse is a little coating wear. Holds an edge better than it's price would have me expecting and as mentioned before, noting has loosened or given way since it left the factory. As to the price issue,if this was a made in the US product,I am sure it would easily be a $150 knife. I have done some rough stabs with mine and the handle was more than secure to me. No prying though that goes beyond pulling a few staples from a shooting target. A guy can get a finger in front of the "guard" but I rarely do because I find the handle serves me well enough as it is but at least the RAT team added the option :)

Are all the knives, mentioned in this thread, 'First production run' ?
Mine is, and I have never seen a RAT folder without that text on the blade.
Must be a hell of a First run!
