Ontario Rat

I just ordered a rat-3 in 1095 today. I looked at one at a gun show last weekend. It's a pretty basic knife.

I like the handles, but I especially like the sheath setup. I have dozens of nice knives with belt sheaths, but I rarely wear a belt. The rat-3 has a handy little clip type sheath that is really utilitarian looking (and ugly, but...). I thought it would go well with overalls, which I do wear a lot when working outside.

I aim to make it really, really sharp, and abuse the heck out of it. So I kind of got it for a beater. The premeditated abuse is why I got 1095.

Rat-5 doesn't have the same sheath, and I get a lot more use out of smaller knives, cause I'm more likely to have one on me.

Solid basic knife -- I own the Rat-3 in D2...

Needs to be reprofiled for that great edge...

Decent sheath...

Fair grips...

For the price a good buy on a production knife...

Rat-3 to me is their best design with the plain blade...

Would avoid (personal preference) the serrated edge version...
