Ontario/rat

I had an Ontario TAK1 and it was a brute but was not finished as nicely as the ESEE. Except for this I would trust it to work when I needed it. No issues at all. Decided I needed cash and off it went....:(

my 5 is a very early RAT-5 model from Ontario. I'll be replacing it with an ESEE when needed...but really....even as much as I use it hard....it looks like it will be awhile before I'd need it.

...Ontario puts out some great knives at the price too, only thing is that their fit and finish isnt as good as ESEE. But make no mistake, their knives can slice, gut, skin, chop and cut just as well as the rest...

+1

I've got a couple of D2Rat-7's. I'd go so far as to say their fit and finish would make them second's if I was running QC or marketing. If I was a dealer, I'd have sent them back. Despite the cosmetics though, the basic design carries the knife. Heat treat's a question. I've done some chopping with no issues, but I don't pound on the D2's. I've got other stuff for that kind of thing. I like them enough that I've got two. Only other knife I've got multiples of is the Spyderco Endura3, my EDC.
