Ontario RTAK.....I like this knife

I own the RAT 7, RAT 3 and the TAK and one of my mates has a RTAK. I know what people mean with regards to the handle of the RTAK, but wit a little modification that can be fixed. On the whole I am very impressed with the Ontario/Randall knives and think any of them are well worth the money. I used the rat 7 for over a year and rate it very highly (now use SR Camptramp as my main blade). The TAK has lived on my webbing and has seen some pretty hard abuse in all conditions and the RAT 3 is a great little EDC or back up, however my girlfriend took this one.

All in all I would recomend any of these knives.

I would like to own a RTAK and have been even more intrigued by this thread about gettin one since it seems they solved there weak tip problem(heat treat). I own a RAT-3 and coming in the mail is the Rat Tak. I love my RAT-3 and use it alot, so now I need the RTaK.

I lost mine my first trip out last summer.:(

Great knife, poor sheath.

The belt loop on the sheath has a button snap, and it popped on me crossing a river and flopped into the water. I had it leg tied so it dumped right upside down.

I couldn't find it for nothing.

I replaced it with a Becker Brute, and haven't been disappointed.

I love my RTAK and have dealt with the handle issue.
Adapt.
Gotta' Dremel though so some mods to the handle should fix things, know whatcha' mean about rolling in your hand. :)
Mine cuts and chops fine but convexing the edge would be ideal ,
having no belt grinder/sander, convexing may have to wait although Lord knows I could use the practice doing it with a mousepad and sandpaper.Any ideas on what grit to start with?
The sheath could be better also.Get 'em while ya' can, sounds like there bein' DC'ed.

Doug, if you want, send it my way and I'll convex it for you. It may remove some of the black coating down near the edge. I'm not sure if you can see what I mean in the pic of mine.

Scott,
Already started scratchin' that black stuff this mornin',not too bad though, nice break from tearin' apart a gearbox on a Japper that the guy that owned it apparently didn't have the foggiest what a clutch was for.
Gonna' finish this convex job myself though. :)
Really  offer and thank you. :D

Doug

Oh,yeah!
Try to imagine how much I care about that black carp.
I do what you do.Wash 'em and wipe 'em. :D

I got my RAT-3 yesterday, really cool knife and sheath both. Great replacement for a folder, compact and tough!
