Ontario SP2 Air Force Survival Knife

I have an Ontario SP2 and it came with a razor's edge. Very comfortable, easy to sharpen, carves wood incredibly well, batons easily, and the saw cuts in the back of the blade work well for firesteels. For $38 bucks I think it's a great deal.

The revovlers issued to AF crew members were S&W Model 15 with 4" barrels, at least that is what I was issued and carried on missions.

The firing piin issue is one reason, but also there is another reason why they issue the aircrews revolvers. Ejecting, or bailing out of a damaged plane and coming down in jungle is not a good thing. Things tend ot get broken.

Have your friend take his pet 1911 or Glock or other semi auto pistol, and with one hand stuck in his belt to simulate a broken arm, rack the slide on his gun to load, or clear a malfunction.

A revolver can be operated with one hand a heck of a lot easier that an auto pistol.

And the pilot knife is a great knife once you do get an edge on it.

I have two of these type knives. One, on the sheath, says Camillus......March 1967. The other knife, doesn't say anything on the sheath, or on the tang, but has a metal tip protector that goes from about an inch on the front all away around the back to where the belt loops are cut. Both knives are unused, and I wonder if I should sharpen and use them, or will they someday have a collector value. Thanks for any info.
