Ontario SP50 Bustin some #$&% up.

Nice review thanks!

I've been thinking about giving the GEN-IIs a chance since they've gone to 5160. Been waiting to hear what feedback i could on heat treat after some issues I had with a 1095 SP8. Loved the handle and blade shape but the soft tip on the second SP in a row turned me off of them for a while. It was much, MUCH softer than any of the Ontario pilot knives I've had...and I've had several and still have one. I was hoping these would do well, there are a couple designs in this line I like.

Dang that looks awesome..... love the birds beak handle and blade shape.

What sorta price point are these at?

I think they really shored up the ship in the last year. They started using 5160 after buying Ranger knives from Justin. They are following his protocol on the steel, and it seems dead on.. I got this one delivered for $79.

Here is a pic of the way I like to use a wedge when splitting. I was using my BK9 in this shot.. If using an axe, the log is horizontal..

Old thread resurrection !!! Don't sweat the small stuff. Great knife, made in America, by people who know what they are doing. Too hard of a RC# & it will be brittle. Too soft & it will not hold an edge well. If a chopper is too high of a RC# it will chip out when hitting knots. Get you one. Great knife from a great Company.

i have an ontario sp51 and after a year of use the tang wiggles inside the kraton handle. its like my old cold steel SRK

Its been two years since this review. Can you bring us up to date on this knife. I am very intrested in it and would like to know more.
