Ontario Spec Plus with 5160?

i sharpened one of the larger ones, and was impressed with a comfortable handle (if it were mine i would cut off the top gaurd), the thin and sharp factory edge, and the generally clean lines and good fit and finish. i didn't get a look at the sheath...

i was told by the owner that it has held up to some pretty good use/abuse. the same man has told me that he holds 5160 above infi for toughness and edge retention, and that this blade has held up to his expectations for the steel.

if it were my style, i wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

They are in the same price range as the Kabar Beckers are they comparable?

Id rather have a Becker. The Spec plus blades Ive handled had burrs on the handles, and were not as comfy. As far as Steel goes...I cant say.

ohh man, this might bring back the magic for Ontario knives......... might.

I hear the Maragne heat treat is impressive on these. Ethan has new heat treat protocols for the new Becker line that I think will make them even tougher than ever as well; if that is possible. I don't care for quillions, so that puts them out of contention for me.

I may buy one of these if and when I get money. Maybe sometime in April-ish I will get money to spare. Until than I will have to try and find if anyone I know owns one.
