Ontario TAK = my perfect outdoors knife

I find the TAK finger choil to be a great size. It is small, but feels good when you choke up (it's more a place to put your finger than an extension of the grip). I would not give up any more blade to have a bigger choil. As it is, the handle is ultra comfy, and I find myself not even needing any finger choil at all most of the time.

Michael, I'm glad to see you like it. :)

The fire piston has been the source of much swearing and a few blisters, but I still love it. I can actually start a fire with it now!

People say the same thing about the choil on the Howler but I agree with you again. IMO choils are only needed on big/heavy knives.

We'll yawl finally convenced me. I ordered mine Mon and it arrived this morning. I've put it off a couple of years but I think that this is what I've been looking for for my basic hiking knife. The grind looks a little off but I can fix that. The handle feels pretty good but maybe a little thick in the swell for my size hand. I've bought several of the Moras and I really like the way they cut but deep down I just didn't feel comfortable with them as my main carry blade. They're so light though they'll still get thrown in the pack. I can't wait to start doing some cutting with my new TAK-1.
