Ontario TAK: too heavy?

Thanks for the comments, everybody. With regard to the Spyderco Perrin, I'm thinking of getting one, though it is just a tad longer (5") than what I had in mind (4-4.5"). Every review I've read of the Perrin has been positive. However, I'm not sure abut the use of the choil as a handguard. That just doesn't seem adequate; it looks to me like it would be too easy for the hand to slide onto the blade during hard use.
