Well I didn't get a shot of the customary beer and bologna post hike meal but it was a good one.

We ran into two dayhikers on the way back out the trail, and found out Ms HD and I went to college with one of them who was a roomie to one of fellow forestry major homies back in the day. Also there was the Deadhead connection there and we all knew a lot of folks in common which made for some fun conversation.

When we whipped out the beer and bologna they broke out some beer and we also served up about an hour of fellowship, bullshit and laughter that left us with a warm feeling when we finally all parted and headed down the road.
 
Cool! I got a backpack for my birthday HD, and I've been thinking of your trips ever since.
 
Always enjoy the pics from your outings. Your trip photos have convinced me WV has some great spots that I need to get to one of these days.

Nice stuff HD and happy birthday you middle aged bushcrafter! Aren't you supposed to be looking at candy-apple red corvette's and hair plugs at this age instead of hardcoring it in the woods during this life stage?

Funny you say that.

One year when I was in college we were on a field trip at Cranberry. As we walked out this road there was a couple settng on the edge of the road in probably their late 50's or early 60's with backpacks taking a breather from coming up the mountain up onto the road. "I hope when I'm that old I can be like them" I thought. Only 51 now but I'm trying to stick with it!
