Yep. Not good! She didn't know a knife could cost that much! Then I told her it doesn't even come with a sheath:eek:

So when I post my test pics, don't ask about why I have the black eye:D

Moab?

My girlfriend stopped wincing at prices. Just today she said "hey give me the battle mistress", I look over and she's smashing up frozen bark mulch with it against the ground. Sigh.

There's a keeper.

Lets see those tests and knife pics, better yet lets see the shiner! Look at it this way at least you got your Busse. :D

Never tell them the price or they will expect you to spend the same on Jewelry:thumbdn::p:cool:

Explain to her the quality of Busse and it's propitiatory steel INFI. Let her know you pay for quality like as in purses, Coach, LV, etc. Also inform her that Busse knives generally rise in value which is something designer purses don't do.

Tell her it's your money and you'll spend it how you want. If she don't like it, she knows where the door is.

P.S. Then turn and run away as fast as you can to avoid near sudden death.

I was able to somewhat dodge the question by telling her that I'd paid for it (SAR8 + chuddy bear sheath) by selling other knives. Which is true, but I'd still paid for all of those knives!

See, basically, I traded into two of my Busse's. An Ar-15 pistol, for a fbmle, and another custom knife, which I trade on a BAD, which I traded on the Ash1cg......

So basically I did not pay for those.

The GW and the SS both were actually purchased outright, but then I sold a Cold Steel Trailmaster bowie, so one of these even was paid for with other money.

So really, out of pocket, I only bought one knife.......see how that works.

Oh, and that original gun, I did not buy, it was a 5 year gift from the company I used to work for.

I just say it was ganzza, and when I'm asked what that is, I said "Remeber when Busse Combat gave out free, knives for christmas? Well, its sorta like that."

Remids me of an old joke:
Two guys talking
-So how did your fight with your wife end?
-She came to me on her knees.
-Really? What did she say?
-Get out from under the bed!

+1 I like your way of thinking.

Another thing I try to do as often as I possibly can, is to show my wife the most expensive offerings from all my favorite sources (both production and custom).

I will say how I want a MOAB......it is only 2K, I want this custom and it is only 1800.........

do this enough, and when you want to spend a piddly 3-400 on a Busse, it is a real bargain!

I have been on a 5 year dry spell for gun buying as well. My prior agreement with the wife was she gets her hair cut and colored, a couple times a year. I get at least one gun per year, since I don't spend my money on my hair (I just shave my head).

Since I started and finished law school, and have now been out for two years, I have not bought a gun. I think I am overdue. The gun I want is about 2K, so heck, maybe a couple of Busse knives are a real bargain.

Another idea: Buy a truck load of very cheap knives. When the spousal/partner unit asks about price, just tell her that that old knife cost $10. No biggie. Then, over time, slowly replace the junk knife with the good knife. With luck, she'll only notice a set number of knives and will not recognize that you've been upgrading. Unfortunately, I have not been so lucky. . .

Oh boy! My wife has asked me "how much" in regard to a Busse exactly once. After seeing dozens come in without comment, she asked the dreaded question after I showed her the most expensive by far that I had ever bought, the custom Fusion Bowie. When I told her, she nodded, and hasn't asked again since.

Follow Newton's third law...

For every action (bussekin purchase) there is (must be) an equal and opposite reaction (jewelry, shoes, bags, etc. purchase.)

Always assure that her crap equals or exceeds your own and you should never have an issue.

You guys are so lucky, I don't have a GF or wife to tell me no, and look where I am not, out of control...
They care so they try to keep you keep it to a nice level...
One day, maybe I'll be lucky like you guys...
