Oops!

At work, everybody knows I'm the knife guy. One of them brought me a tango folder that he used to take the screws off of his license plates.
Yeah, broke the tip off. I sanded it down and did a decent job of bringing it back to life.
Moral to the story?

I'm curious what will be said about the depth of the hole and how far off center it is.
I mentioned that in my letter and also mentioned that I was prying with it and that since I was misusing it i totally understood if they were not be able to help me out with repair or replacement.

That truly honors you VWB563! I hope they replace the blade anyways.
I appreciate that. It was my fault that it broke. I knew better than to pry with it and I normally don't pry with my knives. But I was too lazy to get up and go get a screwdriver to pry with and I figured what the heck, I can show just how tough these knives are. Well I got fooled. It actually broke quite easily, suprisingly easy. But it was my fault in the end and I fully admitted to it in my letter. I'm curious myself to see how the outcome goes.

You merely revealed a factory flaw . Anything that has the Emerson name associated should be able to survive some mild abuse , because that's kinda the whole point . I'll be surprised and disappointed if they don't take responsibly .

Well guys I promised I'd post the outcome to this story and here it is. I received a box today from KAI. Sent it out on July 11 and got it back today so it was a two week turnaround. Outstanding! When I opened it I found a brand new knife which was covered under warranty. Apparently the offset drilled hole was considered a factor to the blade breaking even though I admitted to misusing the knife. Awesome ending to my goof up. Thanks Kershaw for the outstanding customer service. You are greatly appreciated!

Cool! Honesty on your end, and honesty on their end!
You should check the centering of the hole on this new blade and make sure its not in the same condition though.

My experience with Kershaw was similar. I hesitate to tell the story here that it could encourage some people to take advantage of Kershaw's warranty service.

For ANY manufacturer events like this are their best chance to get good press. A few free knives for them means nothing.

Outstanding result. Makes me look favorably upon Kershaw.... and, as mentioned,
I vote with my wallet. Appreciate a good business model. They are getting rare.
Well done OP and Kershaw. Like Mom always said.."tell the truth".
