Good evening friends. I have recently been requested to make a knife with a bottle opener on it, and in exchange for letting me talk him out of it, I promised to show him the easy and safe way to open a beer with a knife (or many other household objects). Try this at home. It's easy.

Also, my point behind mentioning the crowned spine was that, you don't need a 90° spine to get the job done. I was at a house party over a decade ago, and when I couldn't find a bottle opener, someone offered to open it for me with scissors. Yep. And that is when I learned the technique.

Different model, conan11 conan11 . American Gentleman was a one-off, you own the only one (at the time of this post anyway). It is based on the DropT, except the tanto point has been converted to a drop point. Mine is the Edge-C.

But you are not allowed to post in this thread without handing me an open beer. Pay up.

Blast from the past (2014) and photobucket crap all over the pics, but,

I think this is the procedure you're wondering about. Here goes....

Step 1 - stick the edge of the cap between the liners:

Should look like this from the top:

Step 2 - put your thumb on the opposite top edge of the cap, and pry. Pry up and back on the edge between the liners:

Step 3 - Pop! Enjoy!

Does it damage your knife? Sure, a little. I have been doing this for over 12 years with my Al Mar Sere 2K. It marks up the g10 a little. Do I mind? Not a bit. It just adds more character to a well used and trusted tool:

Oh dont mistake my tone, there was no sarcasm there. Rolling Rock is one of my go to cheap beers haha. Cheaper and better than Bud/Coors/Miller.
Agreed.

Rolling Rock used to be really expensive here and bars considered it an import forever. I was like “imported from Pennsylvania?!”

Since then it’s gone down in price and I have no idea why. I don’t go out of my way to get it, but I won’t turn it down either.
