Used to just use my hands. Coronas are pretty tough, though. After about four the steel comes out to deal with 'em. But Yuenglings twist off.

Pro tip, if you break the top off, pour it through a coffee filter before you drink it.

I agree bottle openers are not necessary on a knife. Can openers are silly too.

Yeah .... I can open a beer with just about anything. In the workshop, a 17mm wrench works best. To use a knife for it, I do like a dedicated butt.

bic's and seat belt buckles are also great bottle openers. It annoys me how bottle openers are slapped on everything as a marketing gimmick.

As does hammering the bottle down on the edge of a table with the palm of your hand

top tip this is a good way to get a divorce so don’t do it on the missus best coffee table.


If really drunk and trying to show how tough you are just tap the neck on a wall usually followed by slumping on the floor.

We used to play a game of "how many places on the C1 will open a bottle". that was right before Miller Lite and twist offs came up. Flash hider, front sight lugs, magazine (very naughty), dust cover where the charger clips fit, trap door in the butt, and best was the charging handle. More too but the past is hazy.

That's why the Galil got the opener. The Israeli soldiers favoured mag lips and they were wrecking too many.

That is why you should carry a SAK with a corkscrew on expeditions.

I’ve struggled with SAKS,a spoon handle pushed in with a tea towel wrapped around it often works.

Your going in not taking it out.

But can be messy…


By the way any beer with a twist cap is a poor excuse for a beer.
