EDIT: gmarthur, I took my 520 apart not so long ago, and unless I'm really misremembering, my pivot was very different from your 525 (2 pieces, with the flat going the full length of the pivot). Odd.

I'm all for it. I like the open design of the 940Ti a lot better than the 940, though the "positive" difference is no doubt purely subjective.
I too prefer open build, and many of thier knives come that way, including the HK series. I know the majority dont. But its a very easy thing to do to a knife. But in a way the big back spacers keep alot of the junk out sometimes. Then again it makes it harder to clean. I would like to see where this question leads. By the way, does the owner / ceo of Benchmade ever come on here to awnswer these questions. I cant remember his name. If so, i dont know how i missed it, But just wonderingMatt
