Open Axis?

I too prefer open build, and many of thier knives come that way, including the HK series. I know the majority dont. But its a very easy thing to do to a knife. But in a way the big back spacers keep alot of the junk out sometimes. Then again it makes it harder to clean. I would like to see where this question leads. By the way, does the owner / ceo of Benchmade ever come on here to awnswer these questions. I cant remember his name. If so, i dont know how i missed it, But just wonderingMatt

Well, i don´t have trouble to clean my Axis knives. I can stand a bit of dust in it.

The closed back is more comfort to the hand IMO.

EDIT: gmarthur, I took my 520 apart not so long ago, and unless I'm really misremembering, my pivot was very different from your 525 (2 pieces, with the flat going the full length of the pivot). Odd.

My 520 is the same as yours. The 525sbk-701 in my picture has a totally different pivot system. You actually have to completely disassemble the knife to remove the blade. I don't really see any advantage to the pivot system on the 525 but as long as you don't want to swap blades there isn't a disadvantage either.

Also kjbenner good eye to spot that.;)

Open Axis??

You mean like this...

Nice photo gmarthur.
So much for your warranty though ...... :D

I'm all for it. I like the open design of the 940Ti a lot better than the 940, though the "positive" difference is no doubt purely subjective.

Hi Owen ..... long time, no see. You still have your old 940 BLUE KOTM ?

You really gave that one a workout .... best I remember.

Hope your doing good.... let me hear from you sometime.

And I agree with you totally, while I also like the open design.... any difference in function is subjective........ purely personal preference.

Yes, there are trade off's with both designs. The open is my favorite though.

Les DeAsis... and no you won't see him answering any questions on here or even on the Benchmade Forum ?? His posts are rare to non - existent.
Guess that's just his style ??
