Open carry at the grocery store

Got some groceries tonight and the young man bagging my groceries had a ~3" folder clipped to his apron in plain view. It did my heart good to see a knife in a public workplace.

Moving this to the Blade Discussion Forum. :)

It IS encouraging to see a working tool in a working environment. A little more of that and people generally could come to see utility instead of fantasy when they come across a knife. :D

Yeah, always cool to see someone with a knife clipped to their pocket. I noticed the guy at a local Dunkin Donuts usually has a knife clipped to his pocket, and I think I have noticed different knives. I just don't want to ask him about it because then he would know I was checking out his pants!

On a VERY few occasions I have seen people with knives clipped inside their pockets, (This is not something you will often see in Oz), and I've really wanted to ask them about it but could never really bring myself to do it. I've always thought they would probably think I was some sort of weirdo or something. In reality they would probably want me to ask so they could show off what they've got.

I work at Home Depot and I see a fairly good amount of co-workers have something clipped on their pockets, besides the box cutter we're issued.

Something that is very common here in the "Wild West"
Actually thats why I Luv AZ, CCW permits---Open carry on sidearms too and you can buy/own anything thats legal including auto knives:D

Glad to see that there are people out there with the right attitude. The more we use it in public with the correct manner the more sheepies we can change. It's all about social conditioning.

I've seen the guys and girls in the produce dept carry fixed blades in heavy duty leather sheaths from their belts. I'd guess it was some kind of vegetable knife. Maybe I'll ask one of them one day.

I was on line at Walmart and on the line next door to mine I saw a guy with a red-handled clip knife clipped to his belt, outside the belt. It didn't look like a name-brand, recognizable knife to me (but I'm not an uber-expert). I just found it really odd that rather than have the knife in a pocket with the clip holding the top of the pocket, he used the clip to attach the knife to his belt! Weird...

Arizona freedom, reminds me of the biker looking fella I saw with a "silenced" .45 on his hip at the grocery. I just felt safer.

Oh, I've seen an old man at a local hardware store with a pair of scissors in a belt sheath. The he's a nice guy.

I'm supprised some nazi boss hadn't told the worker he couldn't carry a knife. I know some places won't let you, or like Walgreens put a 2" max on knives...yet the customers can carry whatever they want.

If Walgreens suggested I not carry a knife in their store I wouldn't be a customer now would I? Lots of places to shop and I have voted with my wallet on many issues. I don't suggest any store give me an excuse to shop elsewhere. When I 'have issue' with a retailer I ask them one question, " I can be your best customer or the worst one you have this week. How shall we resolve this?"

I live in Pennsylvania and worked most of this year on the sales floor of a Motorcycle shop that sold Quads and Japanese bikes. During my time there I saw hundreds of knives clipped into the pockets of our customers. I always carried mine and so did a lot of my co-workers. Never was a problem.

...I live in a mostly rural area and theres lots of multis, Gerbers and 110's on workers belts, not to mention the strong Harley presence.. so knives at work.. no problem.. until I clip on a Spydie, or even a little fixed PECK wharncliffe on the belt, and then the comments start coming.. go figure:confused:
