I have acquired a knife collection and after opening so many blades my finger nails are gone. Do they make a tool for this? I can't find anything on the internet?

Sounds like you need to get your nails done.

Ahahahahahahahaha - jeezus Christ!!!! A tool for this?! Yep, it's called "a man card" and yours has been revoked.

*In before the move to W&C....

To be fair, some folks have thinner, weaker nails... call it bad genetics.

Good thing for me, though, I have thick, strong, manly nails (haha ) or else I'd likely have a problem with one of my GEC #72's because she's a real "nail-breaker" -- some knives have that moniker for good reason...

Sandpaper, or use the nail file on your SAK which requires you to open it first and file your nail down so it no longer is broken or cracked which is a structural weak point. If you don't have either handy a brick or sharpening stone will do the trick.

I have an imperial knife which was a "nail breaker" till I managed to clean it all up and oil it. After breaking the nail a few times and having none left to use I had to resort to using a pair of pliers as I probably stab myself with the knife had I used my left hand to open it. Crappy thing about that knife in order to test if I cleaned it up and oiled it and got it working right I had to close it and reopen it, which meant going through that problem again. (And no I am not complaining about a broken nail, I just adapted as I could no longer open the dang thing with my dominate hand safely till I fixed the problem.)

And a heads up don't EVER tell you buddies in life that your looking for a tool to help you open a knife because your worried about breaking a nail. Guy or girl there is no way around it looking embarrassing, just buy the tool mentioned earlier and use it.

No, most of us like the feeling as is just kind of a manly thing. I have tons of callus's like many hard workers out there, but mine comes from weight lifting so I am used to that raw hard skin.

If you've ever had a nail ripped off you know what real pain is all
about. Almost as bad as a kidney stone. Had both. It's about a draw.

Reinforce the nail with superglue.

Must we always lock things,
I prefer to let things remain free and unbound, like a fine set of hooters

I would go with the Spyderco or something without a stud or buy a flicker. Heck even just use a mandage(electrical tape)

I could have sworn GEC made some knife picks with nice handle scales a while back, but a quick google search didn't turn up any for sale.

You might get more help in the traditional forum. If I needed to use a tool I would probably choose one of those craftsman 4-way screwdrivers for some extra utility.
