Opening up a tight pivot.

I won this Schrade wire jack on EBay a few weeks ago, and finally got around to tightening up a loose pivot. Problem is, I hit it too hard (first time I've ever made that mistake :grumpy:) and now it's WAY too tight. All snap it had is gone, and it may as well be a really tight friction folder.

Any ideas on how to loosen the pivot again? I can be more careful next time around. :)

Here's what it looks like- notice the exposed pivot pin.

Use a very small hammer. A tack hammer is really too big.
Hold the knife in your hand, and hit the pin sharply. Try the blade. If it's still too tight, hit the other side of the pin. Repeat as necessary.

Where do I hit on the pin? Direct, off to one side, where? Seems kind of counterintutive, so I figure asking would be smart.

Direct. Just a light tap. Make sure the other side of the pin is unsupported.
This pushes the head down into the hole slightly, and reversing the procedure does the same from the other side.
Remember-light taps, tiny hammer.

That's a little heavy, but it should work. Don't use a set, or any other punch.
Just directly tap the rivet head with the other side unsupported. You will be "unpeening" the rivet slightly.
