Opinel #6 for my first Opinel?

I would get the 6 for sure (my preference would be the carbon steel version). The 7 is nice as well and not much more noticeable in the pocket than the 6. The 8 is nice but too big for pocket carry in my opinion.

The 6 is also available in other wood selections such as olive wood or bubinga (if you don't mind getting it with the stainless INOX steel that is).

The #8 is the smallest I would want, the 9 is about perfect for all around use, and the 10 is a great work knife. It all depends on what you will use it for I think.

Keep in mind that the wood handles can be sanded down quite a bit which will be easier in the pocket. I mostly carry the #10, but if I did not sand down the handle it would be too large for EDC.

Personally I'd say get the size you want along with a size larger...they are great knives.

(I have 8's 9 and 10 and will get more)

The #6 is nice to start with, for sure. Each other size is great, too. They don´t cost too much, so I´m sure the #6 won´t be your last one ... the others will come to the hord... :D
